2. Do three of the following:

a. Make a list of five organizations and agenciesworking in your community. Visit one. Tell what it does.
b. List the activities that take place in your community during a month. Explain the reasons for each. Take part in one.
c. Make a list of some community problems. Explain how each affects you, your family, and the community.
d. Tell something of the history, traditions, contributions, and ways of living of the various ethnic groups in your community.

3. Describe the essential public services in your community. Visit a plant or agency providing one of these services.

4. Show that you know how to get around in your town or region. Show that you know how to use the following:

a. A. map of your town or region
b. A transportation schedule

Note: “Community” include your neighborhood, town, housing development, or rural area.

Scouting Memories Project

History

Scouting has undergone considerable transformation in recent years. Once known as an organization for the development of life skills, character and civic duty in young males across America and then internationally, the BSA brand is now all but put to rest.

The Scouting Memories Project works to preserve the history and memorabilia of scouting for years to come. If you have something to share with the community, we welcome your contributions!

STATEMENT REGARDING OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT

The web pages of the Scouting Memories Project (SMP) provide access to descriptions and digital copies of photographs, memorabilia, oral and video recordings of Scouting events and activities.

The web pages contain some content that may be considered prejudiced, stereotyped, or offensive. SMP’s records span the history of the Scouting Program, and it is our charge to preserve these materials and to make them publicly accessible as part of the historical record. We take seriously our responsibilities in preserving and cataloging such material in its original format and in providing access for research and educational purposes. SMP recognizes that users may encounter some items within this collection that contain offensive language, imagery, or other forms of objectionable content. Such materials reflect the language and attitudes of the historical period in which they were created.
