Series of twenty photographs of wild animals or wild birds taken from life by the scout, and all developed and printed by himself. Or alternative. - A collection made by the scout himself of sixty species of wildflowers, ferns, or grasses, dried and mounted, and correctly named. Or alternative. - Colored drawings of flowers, ferns, or grasses, or twelve sketches from life of animals or birds; all must be done by the scout himself, and original sketches, as well as finished pictures, must be submitted. Or alternative. - Be able to name sixty different kinds of animals, insects, reptiles, or birds in a museum or zoological garden, and give particulars of the lives and habits, appearance, and markings of twenty of them.

History

Scouting has undergone considerable transformation in recent years. Once known as an organization for the development of life skills, character and civic duty in young males across America and then internationally, the BSA brand is now all but put to rest.

The Scouting Memories Project works to preserve the history and memorabilia of scouting for years to come. If you have something to share with the community, we welcome your contributions!

The web pages of the Scouting Memories Project (SMP) provide access to descriptions and digital copies of photographs, memorabilia, oral and video recordings of Scouting events and activities.

The web pages contain some content that may be considered prejudiced, stereotyped, or offensive. SMP’s records span the history of the Scouting Program, and it is our charge to preserve these materials and to make them publicly accessible as part of the historical record. We take seriously our responsibilities in preserving and cataloging such material in its original format and in providing access for research and educational purposes.
